Usually this album is lumped in with the hair bands of the early 90's, but 'Soul Survivor' is much more diverse than most pop metal from this era. As a matter of fact, this album isn't even pop metal. The lead song on the CD is a bluesy hard rock song called "Media Mania". There are some very diverse touches of blues, jazz, and even flamenco on this album. The album lends nicely and is a well executed hard rock/metal album. The production, while slick, is quite gritty!

Big Bang is the debut album by the American metal band Magdallan, released 1992 on Intense Records. Big Bang was nominated for one GMA Dove Award for Best Metal/Hard Rock Album in 1992[1], but did not win. Magdallan started out as a project of Lanny Cordola (ex-House of Lords) and Ken Tamplin (ex-Shout). After their first album Lanny decided to make Magdallan a full band so he changed the name to Magdalen and recruited ex-House of Lords members Chuck Wright and Ken Mary.

Ken Tamplin has a great voice and is an excellent guitarist ... and ... "It Won't Be Long" is a solid CD. The layered vocals, heavy guitars and melodic keyboards mix very well on these tracks. This disc is a collector's item and rarely sells for less that $20 thru on-line auctions!

"IN YOUR FACE" is SHOUT's 1989 heavy metal album. What makes the disc so impressive is the stellar song writing topped with Ken Tamplin's excellent vocals. The song "In Your Face" features an extended guitar solo in the middle with loads of impressive guests coming in to lay down a few seconds of shred.
The guest list includes Marty Friedman (ex-Megadeth), Lanny Cordola, Michael Angelo (Nitro), Alex Masi, Joey Price, and Randy Hansen. This disc is out of print but was re-issued as a two-on-one disc with the band's first album "It Won't Be Long."
