Alton Lee Truly a new season has come in the life and ministry of music industry veteran, Pastor, teacher and evangelist Alton Lee Hood.
It has been fifteen years since the founder and front man of the legendary group D.O.C. (Disciples of Christ) entered the music scene in the early 90’s.
The Grammy and Dove award nominated group were instrumental in pioneering a musical genre that many have come to know and enjoy as Christian/Gospel rap.
In fact, the CCM’s reader poll voted the band into the top three Rap/R&B groups in 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994. After a decade and a half of stellar song writing and a series of CHR radio hits; such as Wrapped up, Get Anointed, Spirit Keep Moving, and God Gave Rock and Roll to You, Alton Lee continues to soar.
Emerging from the wings of his newly formed Under the Shadow Entertainment, Alton Lee ascends to new heights with the infectious urban grooves of his first solo effort entitled, Interruption. As evidenced in the fingerprint of previous writings, Alton Lee remains on the cutting edge. Skillfully and gracefully walking the tight rope of artistry and ministry, Alton Lee relevantly addresses cultural issues without sacrificing creativity or spiritual integrity. After graduating from Rhema Bible Training Center in 1997, Alton Lee knows first hand the importance of maintaining a solid foundation. Dee Proving that delay is certainly not denial, Minister Debra (Dee) while raising two children as a single parent faithfully served behind the scenes, singing background for numerous choirs and appearing with international recording artist such as Stevie Wonder, Donna Summer, Shirley Caesar, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton and Lou Rawls to name a few. A new era of life, love and ministry began when Alton Lee and Dee were married in November of 2001. Navigating through the dynamics of a blended family has birthed in the couple a desire to see the family unit mended and restored to proper order.
Through out the Interruption Dee weaves her angelic like vocal in and out of the melodies, creating a musical hybrid of hip urban pop, up-to-the-minute R&B, with just the right touch of hip-hop overtones. The anointed voice of this Los Angeles California native heals the heart and soothes the soul. Under the sure, hit making production of several producers including Kene “Ghost” Bell (Toby Mac, Antonio Neal, Out of Eden, Grits, Zoë Girl, The Katinas) and the soulful Latin flair of new comer Will Velez.
