Barry Bowers plays an unusual instrument, a 6-string electric violin. This instrument gives him an expanded range over a traditional violin, incorporating the sound qualities of a violin, viola, and cello.
Bruce Von Stiers of BVS Reviews says of Barry’s album “Think On These Things”: “…a wonderful instrumental album filled with beautiful, inspiring music”.
Originally a violist, Barry attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where he earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in music. He has played in symphony orchestras in Reno and Las Vegas, and in orchestras accompanying many prominent entertainers, including Elton John, Billy Joel, Wynonna, and Kenny Rogers. Barry has appeared as a guest musician in many churches nationally and internationally, and performs a wide variety of musical styles, from traditional to contemporary. His 2007 tour took him to Texas, Florida, California, and Brazil. For the summer and fall of 2008, he plans to tour the Midwestern United States.
