We are a Worship Rock Band from Dallas Texas- Supernova Remnant was birthed in 2003 by Robbie Gustin (Lead Vocals/Guitar) & James McLester (Drums/Vocals)Gustin & McLester both Lived the Rock N Roll Lifestyle to the Max for over 15 years. They met as musicians & music fans in junior high. Eventually after years of touring & partying , Gustin & McLester both had near death experiences. In 2001 Gustin bled a gallon of blood after being up 4 days straight on a "methamphetamine" binge & later flatlined. McLester was rushed to Presbyterian hospital in 2003 with level 5 kidney failure, & drowning in 30 lbs of excess fluid that crushed his heart & kept him from seeing & breathing.
These Life Crises brought them into a face to face encounter with God. They realized that the fires of their past would some how resonate with a lost generation. They committed to use their Musical & creative Talents for God's Kingdom. Supernova Remnant started as a 2 piece and graduated to a three piece, including temporary bassist Kevin Daughtery of Go Deep & later James Putnam of Dove award nominees By The Tree.
After 2 years of lineup changes, Supernova Remnant has recently completed it's line up. Keyboardist/Worship Leader Perry Thompson & Bassist Daniel Miller met Gustin at a Nightclub in Shreveport Louisiana where plans to unite in Supernova Remnant first surfaced. Gustin, Miller, & Thompson were among the minority who did not party & shared a Passion for their Faith.
Within a few months, Gustin & Thompson were engaged in phone conversation & Gustin boldly asked Thompson to relocate to Texas with Bassist & friend Miller to complete Supernova Remnant.
Little did they know that McLester had a vision from God that spoke to his heart. The vision showed McLester 2 young, gifted musicians coming from a distance to complete SuperNova Remnant.
Thompson & Miller have an extensive musical background in gospel, jazz, & rock music & blend a myriad of sounds & tones to balance the Thundering rhythms of McLester's ( Texas Drum Tornado Hall of Fame)drumming & Gustin's Soaring lead vocals & overdrive Guitar work. Supernova Remnant is currently recording it's follow up to The Afterglow "Worship & Warfare" on M records due out April 2008. The band will journey to Nashville TN April 20-23 for the Gospel Music Awards & Dove Awards at The Grand Ole Opry. Supernova Remnant will be accompanied by Power FM 89.7 Dallas, TX Music director DJ Drue Mitchell to network with Music Industry Insiders & present their new material in person.
