Born in Lake County, Illinois, Christian rock band, Morning Will Break got their start playing local shows and church worship sets. Without professional guidance and looking to gain some valuable experience the band entered a national talent contest, Band with a Mission, in August 2007. Despite playing a lackluster show, their young age and budding talent caught the attention of judge, Austin Cook. In the following months Cook, of Indevo Records, worked with Morning Will Break to help them develop their sound. In December of 2007 the band began recording their first EP, produced by Cook.
Now, with their EP complete, Morning Will Break is shifting their focus towards playing live shows. Their goal for each performance is to not only share their music, but to spread hope to a hopeless generation; a hope they’ve found in Christ. They come to the stage with a message of purpose and redemption, something each of them have experienced firsthand. In lead singer Skyler Herman’s case the lesson came after a summer of struggling with anorexia. Her own self hatred and helplessness in the situation forced her into the arms of God where she found acceptance and love. Through her daily battles Skyler learned to rely heavily on the Lord, “Food, self image and confidence are things I will always struggle with, but where I am weak God is so strong! I know I am nothing without Him…I need to depend on Him.”
Morning Will Break continues to evolve musically and write new songs in the anticipation of recording a full-length album in the near future.
